With the permission of her grieving family, it is with profound sorrow that we report the tragic death of 8-year-old Virginia Wynne Naylor, affectionately known as Wynne, who was among the victims of the catastrophic flooding that struck Central Texas over the July 4th weekend.
Wynne had been attending Camp Mystic, a cherished summer camp located near Hunt, Texas, along the Guadalupe River, when torrential rains triggered a deadly flash flood. The powerful and sudden rise of the river caught campers and staff off guard, resulting in a heartbreaking loss of life.
Wynne’s passing marks one of seven children from Camp Mystic who perished in the flooding. In total, nine individuals from North Texas have now been confirmed dead as a result of the disaster.
Remembering Wynne
Wynne was described by her loved ones as joyful, adventurous, kind-hearted, and deeply faithful. She had a passion for the outdoors, a love for animals, and a bright curiosity that left a lasting impression on everyone who met her.
