NEW ORLEANS, LA — July 2025 — The New Orleans community is grieving the sudden and heartbreaking death of 26-year-old Wildelis Rosa, a dedicated Louisiana police officer whose life was cut tragically short just days after undergoing a high-risk Brazilian Butt Lift (BBL) procedure in Miami.
Rosa, known for her passion for law enforcement and dreams of joining the FBI, traveled to Miami to have the cosmetic surgery—an increasingly popular but dangerous procedure involving extensive liposuction and fat transfer to the buttocks. Reports reveal that doctors removed fat from 12 different areas of her body, significantly increasing the risk of severe complications.
Only three days after the surgery, Rosa’s health rapidly declined. She experienced dangerously low blood pressure and breathing difficulties. Her family disclosed that she collapsed in her bathroom and was found unresponsive. Despite emergency CPR efforts, Rosa was pronounced dead the following morning.
The cause of death was identified as a blood clot that traveled to her lungs—a known fatal risk associated with aggressive fat transfer surgeries like the BBL.
Though Rosa’s passing occurred in March, her family only recently made the news public, sharing their shock and grief. Her sister, Anamin Vazquez, described the gut-wrenching moment she realized something was wrong.
“We had just that feeling in our guts, like something was wrong,” Vazquez said. “I texted her and said, ‘I hope you’re doing okay, you’re enjoying your birthday.’ But there was no answer back.”
Rosa reportedly spent around $7,500 on the procedure, a costly investment that ultimately claimed her life. Her family urges others to seriously weigh the dangers before pursuing such elective surgeries.
“We all want to feel beautiful, but at what cost?” a family member lamented. “Wildelis had so much more to do, so much life ahead of her.”
Remembering Officer Wildelis Rosa
Known for her dedication and compassionate spirit, Rosa served her community with distinction and hope. Her untimely death has sparked important conversations about the risks of cosmetic surgery, especially BBLs, which are linked to one of the highest mortality rates among aesthetic operations.
The law enforcement community has also come together to honor Rosa’s memory, remembering her not for the surgery that ended her life, but for the life she lived—one marked by strength, ambition, and heartfelt service.
Rest in peace, Officer Wildelis Rosa.
