Izaak Karter Kroh, born January 17, 2007, in Boise, Idaho, passed away tragically on July 3, 2025, in Bismarck, North Dakota, following a work-related accident. He was just 18 years old.
Izaak’s passing has left an enormous void in the hearts of his family, friends, and the entire Bismarck community. Known for his infectious humor, magnetic energy, and love for life, Izaak brought laughter and joy wherever he went.
He moved to Bismarck in 2009 with his family and attended local schools including Dorothy Moses Elementary, Apple Creek Elementary, Wachter Middle School, and Bismarck High School. He proudly graduated in May 2025 through Acellus Online High School Academy.
From a young age, Izaak was deeply passionate about sports. He played youth baseball and later joined the Bismarck High School Baseball Team. He also followed in his brother Braxton’s footsteps by becoming a dedicated member of the BHS Boys Swim and Dive Team.
His commitment extended beyond school into the working world. He first brought smiles to fans as “Merifeather” the mascot for the Larks Baseball Team, then became their Master Griller. His creativity and hands-on skills were evident in his work with Sleepy Hollow Theatre and Bismarck Parks and Recreation’s Aquatic Center. Most recently, he took pride in his role as a groundskeeper at Tom O’Leary Golf Course.
Izaak’s interests were wide and full of heart — from dreaming of owning a classic orange or black Chevrolet Camaro, to preparing for his upcoming service with the North Dakota National Guard, to his deep love for country music and hopes of seeing Alan Jackson live.
Family was central to Izaak’s life. He shared a special bond with his siblings Megan and Braxton and cherished outdoor adventures, time at the family cabin on Lake Metigoshe, and simple moments spent cruising Main Street or watching YouTube.
He is survived by his loving parents, Tiffany and Duane Kroh; sister, Megan; brother, Braxton; grandparents Cindy and Tracy Vanous, and Myron and Marie Kroh; aunts and uncles Heather and Colin Engel, David and Sara Kroh; cousins Luca and Crew Engel, Kaitlyn and Ethan Kroh, Ryan and Erin Voeller; and his lifelong best friend, Zachariah Kuil.
Izaak was preceded in death by his beloved dog, Penny; great-grandparents Helen and Claude Braunagel, Elwyn Vanous, Harris and Laura Morey, Rudolph and Ella Kroh; and several great-aunts and uncles.
A funeral service will be held at 10:00 AM on Monday, July 14, at Trinity Lutheran Church, 502 N 4th St, Bismarck. Visitation will be on Sunday, July 13, from 2:00 to 5:00 PM at Parkway Funeral Service, 2330 Tyler Parkway.
Though his life was heartbreakingly brief, Izaak Karter Kroh’s spirit, laughter, and love will be remembered and cherished forever.
